SEKILAS GRAMMAR FOR TRANSLATION

Untuk mempermudah proses belajar bahasa Inggris, "Grammar For Translation" merupakan buku yang dapat dijadikan panduan bagaimana menggunakan bahasa Inggris secara efektif. Sesuai dengan judulnya, buku ini memaparkan bagaimana seseorang memerlukan pengetahuan tentang Grammar atau tata bahasa dalam sebuah percakapan bahasa Inggris, terutama bagi anda yang ingin melakukan translasi atas kalimat-kalimat berbahasa Inggris.

Meskipun belum sepenuhnya membahas tentang hal-hal yang diperlukan dalam mengenal Grammar dan keterkaitannya saat melakukan translasi, buku ini cukup representatif saat memperkenalkan berbagai dasar-dasasr dan pokok-pokok setiap kalimat bahasa Inggris. Dimulai dari pengenalan bentuk-bentuk kala (waktu) yang tertuang dalam Bab I, seorang yang sedang belajar bahasa Inggris akan mengetahui secara tepat penggunaan "to be", "Simple Present Tense", "Past Perfect Tense", Simple Future Tense" atau berbagai penggunaan kata yang terkait dengan grammar dalam berbahasa Inggris lainnya.

Pada Bab II, buku ini memaparkan tentang hal-hal dalam bahasa Inggris yang mengacu pada Orang dan Benda. Misalnya, Pemaparan tentang Nomina (Nouns). Buku ini menjelaskan bahwa terdapat dua jenis Nouns yakni Single Noun dan Noun Phrase. Selain itu, pada Bab II buku ini juga menjelaskan tentang hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan Pronomina (Pronouns) serta Subjek dan Objek harus "Benda" seperti contoh yang terdapat pada halaman 132 dari buku ini.

Buku ini juga menjelaskan tentang Verbs yakni penyebutan dalam bahasa Inggris tentang suatu kata yang menunjukan suatu tindakan atau keadaan tertentu. Pada Bab III penulis "Grammar For Translation", Faldy Rasyidi yang juga menjabat sebagai Pembantu Rektor III di Universitas Nasional dan Priyanto S. Lundiono, menjelaskan secara rijid fungsi-fungsi dan penggunaan verbs dalam sebuah kalimat bahasa Inggris.

Buku "Grammar For Translation" setebal 230 halaman ini ditutup dengan penjelasan mengenai bagaimana kalimat bahasa Inggris juga dapat disertai dengan sebuah keterangan oleh penggunanya seperti yang dijelaskan pada BAB IV. Mengenai kata keterangan (Adjectives), buku ini menjelaskan bahwa sebuah kalimat bahasa Inggris memiliki beberapa kata keterangan yang dapat dipergunakan sesuai dengan waktu, tempat dan konteks yang berbeda-beda tanpa bisa dicampur-adukan.

Bagi penulis " Grammar For Translation" sendiri, buku ini adalah buku Jilid pertama yang ditulis untuk memudahkan anda dalam menguasai bahasa Inggris. khususnya dalam proses men-"translate" bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia dengan penggunaan tata bahasa yang baik dan benar. Jadi, tidak berlebihan jika dikatakan buku ini wajib dimiliki bagi anda yang ingin belajar maupun mengajar bahasa Inggris sebelum penulis memberikan penjelasan lebih jauh mengenai tata bahasa dalam bahasa Inggris pada buku Grammar For Translate" jilid berikutnya.

Hooray! It's a smart holiday!

Holiday is too worth to pass. So, why don’t we plan our holiday in order to have “having fun” time while sharpening our intelligence?

After receiving report books in school, and after knowing the result of our efforts in education, we sometimes feel confused where we want to spend our holiday. Having vacation overseas is one of the highest dream we sometimes hope the upcoming holiday. But, honestly, at the same time, we realize that it can spend a lot of money if we trip overseas, even in this difficult economical situation. And after the holiday, all we feel is only tiresome. Even, we will not be ready enough to start our school for new term again.

However, we also have to admit that doing something and going somewhere are very useful to refresh our mind and heart before we go to the school again. That’s why, all the people—the students and the workers—really wait for holiday. No matter what, we must make our holiday useful and educative.

When the holiday comes, children may think about some exciting things. They imagine about places which can make them forget hard time in their school. But, as parents, it is their duty to disappear the children’s thirst of excitement without erasing the children’s intellectual insights, because, if the parents find a way only to entertain the children, the children’s achievement after they come back to the schools will decrease.

As well all know, there are still a lot of places which can only give the excitement to the children, but also can refresh the children’s insights. Those places are very interesting, too. Besides they give satisfaction to children, the places can make the students are eager to come back to the places again, because the children feel that they can study a lot of new things related to their lessons at schools.

In Indonesia itself, we have some places that can realize all those goals above. Taman Safari, for instance, can give us deeper knowledge about animals, and of course it has relation to some subjects in our school, such as biology. Planetarium, in Cikini, can also give us excitement and insights. In the place, we can watch some things in the sky, such as stars and planets. All those views can provoke the children’s interest in science.

Finally, having decision to go to useful places are wise plans. And, hooray! It’s a smart holiday!

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein (14 March 1879–18 April 1955) was a theoretical physicist who was considered as one of the biggest scientists in the 20th century. He found a theory of relativity and also gave contribution to the development of quantum mechanics, statistic mechanics, and cosmology. He got a noble in physics in 1921 for his explanation about the effect of photoelectric and “His devotion to theoretical physics".

After he formulated the theory of relativity, Einstein became well-known all over the world, an unusual achievement for a scientist. In his old age, his popularity was much higher than other scientists in history, and in popular culture. That is why people at that time considered him as a genius

Einstein was born in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany; about 100 km the east of Stuttgart. His father’s name was Hermann Einstein, a feather bed seller, who then worked in electrochemical. His mother’s name was Pauline. They got married in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. They were descendants of Jewish families

Albert went to school in Catholic School, and it was because of his mother’s will he got a violin lesson. When he was five, his father showed him a pocket compass, and at that time, Einstein was aware that there was an action in this “Empty” room to the hand of compass; He then explained this experience as the most evocative moment in his life. Nevertheless, he was always considered as lazy student. It was perhaps because of dyslexia, and his shyness.

Einstein started studying math when he was 12 years old. But, at that lesson, he failed. Nevertheless, his uncles helped him develop his interest in intellectual world by giving him some suggestion and books about science and mathematic. In 1894, when his father failed in electrochemical business, Einstein’s family moved from Munich to Pavia, Italia (near Milan). But, Albert still stayed to finish his school before he could finally move to Pavia too. The next year, Einstein failed the entrance place in Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (Technology Institution, Switzerland, at Zurich) and by his family, he was sent to Aarau, Switzerland, to finish his school, where he received diploma in 1896.

In 1898, Einstein met and fell in love with Mileva Maric, a Serbian girl, his classmate. In 1900, He was granted a teaching in Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, which at the same time; he got citizenship of Switzerland in 1901. During this year he discussed his interest in science to his closed friends, including Mileva. And after they got married they got a daughter, named “Lieserl”, who was born in Januari 1902.

In 1905, when he got a doctor in Zurich, he wrote 4 articles which gave the basic of modern physics. A lot of physicists agreed that the three theses (about Brownian movement, the effect of photoelectric, and the special relativity) deserved the Nobel. However, it was only about the effect of photoelectric receiving the noble.

South Africa has started the biggest party. Suddenly, all the people under the sun are as if being hypnotized by the magic of the biggest party. In Indonesia, for instance, although their national football team doesn't take part in the party, the people also celebrate to support their favorite team taken part in the party. Well, World Cup 2010 in South Africa seems to be the only moment that can make people in unity.

It seems that the World Cup now is very different from the previous world cup celebrations, because it is the first time for FIFA to give one of Africa countries a chance to be the host, after eight years ago, it gave two Asia countries, Japan and South Korea, becoming the host of world cup. So, based on this fact, it seems that Africa countries have been aligned with other countries in Europe, American continent, and also Asia. Whereas, if we pay close attention to the economic conditions of the countries in African continent, we seem to understand that their economic condition is out of the world standard. But, it is a happy reality that they, represented by South Africa, can prove that they can be also a host for the biggest event such World Cup.

Besides that, what makes world cup 2010 in South Africa is different, is that the way they do the celebration. It can be seen when we pay attention to the African supporters. Almost all game running, they don't stop blowing their traditional trumpet. It sounds like an elephant's long scream. So, this situation really make all the contestants, besides the host, feel nervous when they are playing in the game.

Moreover, it seems that there is also a negative side in World Cup 2010. It was reported in some newspapers that the world cup competition was threatened with bombs from terrorists. The news, indeed, has made all the contestants worried. However, again, South Africa, for such news, they convinced all the contestants that they would make the best for the contestants security, and they wouldn't allow the terrorists to blow the biggest party in the world.

Finally, we must give applause to South Africa for having been a host of World Cup 2010. And we have to also take a lot of examples from them. We should hope that someday later, Indonesia can also get a chance to be the host of world cup. So, in this case, we must firstly prove to the world that we have big desires to football, and we are a also a friendly country that will keep peace in our country and also in the world.

Students Are The Stars in The Time of Turmoil

Riots, violence, and chaos happening nowadays seem to give social unrest to our nation. Even, the events are like devils hunting welfare. People now don’t know who to trust, they are also blind to whom they can give their mercy, because it seems that the people considered as friends, can suddenly change become the most dangerous enemies. These facts make the future of our nation become dark, and at the same time, people hope that a hero can come to make everything back to the time of glory.

However, there is no time for us to loose of hope. There is still a chance for us to make everything better. And if we ask who will give the change, just see clearly in schools. They, the next heroes, are being educated by great teachers. They are being prepared to be the best human beings in the future. Ya, they are students. They’re going to the stars in this time of turmoil.

If we try to see our history, the independence of Indonesia was reached by the students having a big dream. With their strong struggle, colonization could be chased away. With their spirit, they were not easy to give up finding ways for this nation. This fact is not only an illusion, because we certainly know some figures in the past like Muhammad Hatta, Soekarno, etc. They were students finally using their critical knowledge after graduation to free this country from the colonization. They even continued their struggle after independence to keep alive the students after them.

Now, the signs of heroes can be seen clearly. We perhaps have ever heard that in April 2010, some college students in Malang had created successfully a vehicle with economic gasoline. At the same month, some Indonesian students became runner up after Chinese students in Math competition organized in Germany. Moreover, it was reported recently that some students from Indonesia organized successfully a program of charity for Palestine, and the program was given award by the secretary general of United Nations.

The facts above should make us aware that in their youths, they proved, the glories they have received not only for themselves, but also for the sake of this nation, Indonesia. They have made us proud of them, and they will not stop trying to make sensation in this world until the name of this country will be fragrance in the future.

Finally, now it’s time for the students to build up their confidence. They have to dig for knowledge as much as possible. The students must like studying. They must read books a lot. They mustn’t stop reaching as high as possible achievements in the academic sides and also non-academic sides such as being a member of PASKIBRA, a member of PMR, a member of OSIS, and also a member of SENAT in the universities.

So, hey the students! You are the stars in the time of turmoil, and you must believe that Indonesia future is in your hands…!!!

The History of Blues Music

“The origins of blues is not unlike the origins of life. For many years it was recorded only by memory, and relayed only live, and in person. The Blues were born in the North Mississippi Delta following the Civil War. Influenced by African roots, field hollers, ballads, church music and rhythmic dance tunes called jump-ups evolved into a music for a singer who would engage in call-and-response with his guitar. He would sing a line, and the guitar would answer.”

From the crossroads of Highways 61 and 49, and the platform of the Clarksdale Railway Station, the blues headed north to Beale Street in Memphis. The blues have strongly influenced almost all popular music including jazz, country, and rock and roll and continues to help shape music worldwide

“The Blues... it's 12-bar, bent-note melody is the anthem of a race, bonding itself together with cries of shared self victimization. Bad luck and trouble are always present in the Blues, and always the result of others, pressing upon unfortunate and down trodden poor souls, yearning to be free from life's' troubles. Relentless rhythms repeat the chants of sorrow, and the pity of a lost soul many times over. This is the Blues.”

The blues form was first popularized about 1911-14 by the black composer W.C. Handy (1873-1958). However, the poetic and musical form of the blues first crystallized around 1910 and gained popularity through the publication of Handy's "Memphis Blues" (1912) and "St. Louis Blues" (1914). Instrumental blues had been recorded as early as 1913. During the twenties, the blues became a national craze. Mamie Smith recorded the first vocal blues song, 'Crazy Blues' in 1920. The Blues influence on jazz brought it into the mainstream and made possible the records of blues singers like Bessie Smith and later, in the thirties, Billie Holiday

“The Blues are the essence of the African American laborer, whose spirit is wed to these songs, reflecting his inner soul to all who will listen. Rhythm and Blues, is the cornerstone of all forms of African American music.”

Many of Memphis' best Blues artists left the city at the time, when Mayor "Boss" Crump shut down Beale Street to stop the prostitution, gambling, and cocaine trades, effectively eliminating the musicians, and entertainers' jobs, as these businesses closed their doors. The Blues migrated to Chicago, where it became electrified, and Detroit.
In northern cities like Chicago and Detroit, during the later forties and early fifties, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, and Elmore James among others, played what was basically Mississippi Delta blues, backed by bass, drums, piano and occasionally harmonica, and began scoring national hits with blues songs. At about the same time, T-Bone Walker in Houston and B.B. King in Memphis were pioneering a style of guitar playing that combined jazz technique with the blues tonality and repertoire.

Meanwhile, back in Memphis, B.B. King invented the concept of lead guitar, now standard in today's Rock bands. Bukka White (cousin to B.B. King), Leadbelly, and Son House, left Country Blues to create the sounds most of us think of today as traditional unamplified Blues.

In the early nineteen-sixties, the urban bluesmen were "discovered" by young white American and European musicians. Many of these blues-based bands like the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Canned Heat, and Fleetwood Mac, brought the blues to young white audiences, something the black blues artists had been unable to do in America except through the purloined white cross-over covers of black rhythm and blues songs. Since the sixties, rock has undergone several blues revivals. KI HADJAR DEWANTARA

Ki Hajar Dewantara was born in Yogyakarta on the 2nd of May 1889. He was born with a name "Raden Mas Soewardi Soeryaningrat". He came from "Kraton" family in Yogyakarta. Raden Mas Soewardi Soeryaningrat, when he reached 40 years old measured in "Caka" years, changed his name to Ki Hadjar Dewantara. Since then, he didn't use his knighted anymore in his first name. It was because of his will to be able to get close to the society freely, physically and generously.

His life journey was really decorated with struggle and dedication for the sake of his nation. He graduated from the elementary school at ELS (Dutch Primary School) He then continued his study to STOVIA (native elementary school), but he didn't complete it because of illness. After that, he worked as a journalist at some newspapers such as, Sedyotomo, Midden Java, De Express, Oetoesan Hindia, Kaoem Moeda, Tjahaja Timoer dan Poesara. In his time, he included a reliable writer. His writings were very communicative, sharp and patriotic, so that they could inspire the readers to the spirit of anti-colonialism.

Besides his diligent as a young journalist, He was also active in a social and political organization. In 1908, He was active as in the field of propaganda named "Boedi Oetomo" to socialize and provoked the Indonesian society awareness of the importance of unity and integrity in the national and the state at that time.

Then, together with Douwes Dekker (Dr. Danudirdja Setyabudhi) and dr. Cipto Mangoenkoesoemo, on the 25th of December 1912, he established Indische Partij (the first political party of Indonesian nationalism). This party had a purpose for Indonesian independence.

They tried to register this organization to get a status of legal entity in the Dutch colonial government. However, through the governor general of Idenburg, the Dutch government tried to block the party's presence by refusing the registration on the 11th of March 1913. Reason for refusal was that the organization was deemed able to raise the feelings of nationalism to the society, so that the society could rebel the Dutch government.

After the rejection of "Indische Partij", He helped form Bumipoetra committee in November 1913. The committee became a competitor to the committee of the celebration of the Dutch Nation Hundred Years of Independence. The committee of Boemipoetra criticized the Dutch government that was celebrating their hundred years of Independence from French colonization, by withdrawing money from the people to finance the celebration.

For the celebration, He criticized through his writing called "Als Ik Eens Nederlander Was" (If I were a Dutch) and, "Een voor Allen maar Ook Allen voor Een" One for all, But all for one either).

However, because of the writing, through the governor general of Idenburg, the Dutch government sentenced without trial, such as internering (waste law). He was then exiled to Bangka island.

Douwes Dekker and Cipto Mangoenkoesoemo who felt his compatriot was treated unfairly, published a writing to defend Ki Hajar Dewantara. But the Dutch government considered that the writing was to provoke Indonesian people to rebel to their government. Consequently, both of them, Douwes Dekker and Cipto Mangoenkoesoemo, were also sentenced a waste law. Douwes Dekker was exiled to Kupang, while Cipto Mangoenkoesoemo was exiled to Banda island.

After their return from exile, with his compatriots, Ki Hajar Dewantara established a national college, "Nationaal Onderwijs Instituut Tamansiswa"(Tamansiswa national college) on the 3rd of July 1922. This college extremely emphasized its students to the education of nationalism feelings in order to love their nationality, and struggled for their independence.

Not a few obstacles faced to maintain Taman Siswa. The Dutch conoal government tried to inhabit by issuing the Ordination of wild school on the 1st October 1932. But, with persistence, they struggled for their rights, so that the ordination was finally revoked.

In the middle of his seriousness paying attention education world in TamanSiswa, Ki Hajar Dewantara kept on writing. But the writing themes switched from politic to education and culture with nationalist-minded writings. He had written hundred writings. It was from his writings he put the foundations of national education for Indonesia.

Meanwhile,in the days of Japanese colonization, activities in the field of politic and education wwere still continued. When Japanese government formed "Pusat Tenaga Rakyat" (Putera) in 1943, Ki Hajar became one of the leaders besides Ir. Soekarno, Drs. Muhammad Hatta and K.H. Mas Mansur.

After the time of independence, Ki hajar Dewantara had ever served as the first education minister. His name Ki Hadjar Dewantara was immortalized not only a hero of education(The father of National Education)which was taken from his birthday on the 2nd of May, as National Education day, But was also determined as a hero of natonal movement Pahlawan Pergerakan Nasional through a presidential decree RI No.305,1959, on the 28th of November 1959. He also received another award, Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Gadjah Mada in 1957 .

Two years after receiving the tittle, he passed away on the 28th of April 1959 at Yogyakarta, was buried there.

It's Enough for Me...!!!

"Drrrt... Drrrttt...!!!" the vibrate alert woke Riana up from her sleep.

"Ian...!!!" Riana was surprised, and she sighed, "huuuuft...", then opened her eyes lazily. She read the message, "What are you doing, my lovely sista? I've just arrived home. I miss you so much... Mmuuuaacchh...!" After reading this message, a beautiful smile decorated Riana's face. "I miss you too my lovely brother..." She whispered softly.

Quickly she typed some words to reply the message. While she was writing it, she took a fancy, "How if he and I will be together forever and ever??? Is he the one for me??? Does he really love me?" The questions suddenly appeared in her mind. But, it was just for a while, after that she stepped the stairs down slowly but blankly, and,

"Ring...!!! Ring...!!! Ring...!!!" her mobile rang again from her room. It made her stepped up the stairs again to get her mobile. Very fast, she ran very fast, until when got the mobile,

"It's Ian...!!!" she said surprisingly. How not? In the message, her beloved brother, Ian, asked her to go out this night. Of course, her heart was suddenly flowery. However, after a while, she was attacked by worry. She felt afraid. The feelings blew so hard in her mind and her heart. So, she just went to her bathroom to take a shower.

After taking a bath, she decided to go with Ian. While she was dressing, her sister in the down stair, called her. Riana soon ran down the stairs after she had finished dressing, and when she arrived in her sister's room, she asked,

"Why are you so happy, my beloved sister?"

"Riana, do you know what???" Answered her sister happily, "Ian persuaded me to continue our love again. He said that he still loved me"

Of course, this words made Riana surprised. it was as if she was falling down from the highest sky. How not? The day before, Ian had said that he only loved her, and just wanted to live together with her for the rest of his life. Even, a moment before, Ian asked her to go with him, and this time, When Riana had been ready to go, this news coming from her sister had succeeded breaking Riana's heart into pieces. It perfectly hurt deep inside her heart, so that Riana's smile faded away from her face.

However, Riana tried to be patient. She left her sister without any words, and went back to her room. When she got her room, she cried, because she remembered about the words Ian had said to her,

"I want to be a better man. I want to change my way of life, because of you, yeah you, Riana, the only girl I love" Ian said sweetly that time. This words were still fresh in Riana's mind. Honestly, Riana still loved Ian as full as her heart. To her, Ian had ever helped her to forget Joe, her ex-boyfriend, Riana's first love. And when she asked him how he could help her forget Joe, Ian answered that it was his love could be a hero to forget Joe. But, this time, Riana was aware that whatever Ian had told her was bullshit! Even, Riana felt that she was only like standing behind her sister, like a shadow. Yeah, that's the fact, it's clear this time, Ian didn't love her, but her sister, Sisil!

Riana couldn't stand this feeling, she was very upset with Ian. She realized that she had been just a donkey to Ian. But, Riana didn't know what to do, because she even didn't have any bravery to make a new relationship with another man.

Sometimes, Riana tried to share to her friends about how deep her love was with Ian, but they could only say, "Okay, don't be sad, Riana, just because of him. He's just a bad man!"

Even When her sister, Sisil, this time came into her room, Riana was caught in hand that she was crying for Ian. Looking at this, her sister, Sisil, walked close Riana, and said to her,

"I'm so sorry, Riana. I know it really hurts your heart. But, I just want you to know that he's not a good man for you. You know, I'm not really accept his persuasion to be his girl friend again. No way! Because I actually already have a boyfriend, Riana. Yes, and he's not Ian! And why I acted happily just now, I just wanted you to be more careful in choosing a man to be your boyfriend. Tai Chi Can Increase Human's Body Immunity

Someone, who frequently does Tai Chi, will posses a stronger body to be against Virus. A condition such as painful nerve, which is caused of varicella-zoster virus, can live in human’s body for years after being infected and then it will be shingles. This disease generally appears when someone reaches 50 years old above, because in these ages, someone’s anti-body level has decreased.

Tai Chi, a centuries sport, is one of martial arts. This exercise includes aerobic activities, relaxation, and meditation. In a study donated by National Institutes of Health, Department of Health in America, the researchers involved 112 volunteers who were from 59 years old to 86 years old. They—the researchers—divided the volunteers into two groups. One of the groups was asked to do Tai Chi for about 40 minutes 3 times a week in 16 weeks, while another group was given a health consulting class.

The researchers led by Dr. Michael R. Irwin from The University of California, Los Angeles, discovered that people who did Tai Chi were able to increase their body immunity from varicella-zoster. They also discovered that when the volunteers were vaccinated to the virus after the study started, the people who did Tai Chi possessed better response to the virus. This study was reported in The Journal of The American Geriatrics Society.

Just For You, Cindy... (^_^)

The letter was still on the table. It was next to the bed, a bed where Cindy was lying on it with the eyes looking at the roof—blankly. She couldn’t believe what she had read, and then she turned her head again to the letter. Besides the letter there was also a flower that looked fresh in its vase. She then tried to remember the moment when she got the flower from a young man she really loved—Andreas. But, that’s not too long, because her mind wanted to find out the answer of the letter she had just read.

‘Why will he??’ Cindy was wondering, couldn’t accept a fact that she had known from the letter and would happen the next day. ‘Doesn’t he love me anymore???’ her tears suddenly fell down from her eyes and soaked her cheeks. ‘Andreas, please don’t…. I need you…’ She whispered, and then as she started feeling sleepy, she closed her eyes and fell asleep. The certainty of her love would be decided at a place where planes arrived and departed.

That time, outside a window of Cindy’s room, the night was raining. The wind blew strongly. They—the rain and the wind—made the situation seem to be cold. Once a while, rolling of thunder broke the stillness of the night. No one walked outside their house, not even the security usually guarding the housing area there. They would rather stay inside their station. It’s the worst weather ever.

But, after spending for hours, about 5 am, the rain stopped, and the crowing of cocks started decorating the housing environment. In the end, at 6:30 am, the sun rose slowly in the east. Its shine gave beauty to the world. Its shine even warmed up Cindy’s heart. She just got up and was walking lazily to her bathroom. And, when she wanted to take her towel hanging up at a small hanger, near the table which there was still a letter on it, she was suddenly surprised, after she accidentally stared at the letter. She reminded something and quickly ran to her bathroom.

“Oh my God! I’m late! I must go to the airport soon!” she screamed.

It seemed that the traffic was very bad—as usual. There were too many motorcycles queuing on the road. At that time the sun still went up slowly, made the condition warmer. Cindy was being trapped by a long traffic jam.

“Can you drive faster, sir?” said Cindy worriedly to a taxi driver sitting in front of her.

“How come, miss?” answered the driver, “I can’t even move this car just for one inc—I hate this city!”

‘Oooh… God!’ Cindy sighed. Suddenly, something came into her mind, ‘Oh, how if I can’t meet him for the last time…’ this thought made her uncomfortable. She was very worried, couldn’t sit in the taxi quietly. She imagined about a love would leave her. Moreover, bad fancies tempted her illusion, and she was disgusted with the condition of the traffic, and,

‘No! I can’t wait longer! I must get off, and get the airport as soon as possible’ after thinking of this, she then shouted, “Ok, sir, your job’s over. You can stop here!”

“What the???” the taxi driver replied confusedly. And, because Cindy pushed him to stop his car, he finally stopped it. And just like wind, after gave her money, Cindy opened the car’s door, and jumped out the car,

“Hey, miss, you forgot the change!” shouted the taxi driver then,

“Take it for you” answered Cindy while smiling to the taxi driver,

“Why do you look so hurried???” asked the taxi driver,

“It’s a matter of love, bro” after saying this last word, Cindy then just ran through the road. She ran very fast in the middle of the road, passing all the cars and the motorcycles queuing on the road. She ran like a bird flying in the sky. She looked free. And she looked like a racehorse. Yeah, Cindy wouldn’t stop running until she got the first turning on left where the airport could be seen there.

In another situation, at the airport, a young man looked so worried. He was as if waiting for someone. Once a while he looked the right and the left, hoped that the one would arrive soon,

“Andreas, it’s five more minutes” said a mother suddenly,

“Wait a minute, mom. I believe that Cindy will come to say farewell to me” Andreas answered.

“But, the announcement had called all the passengers twice”

“There’s still the last calling, isn’t it, mom? There’s still a chance”

It seemed that the third calling came, and it’s time for Andreas to take off, he then moved around his body, and ready to walk toward the plane that had been waiting for him. Andreas walked weakly, he hated himself, and felt guilty, and thought that Cindy perhaps had hated him because of his letter. But,……

“Andreas…!!!” there was a shout coming from Andreas’ back. The shout made him surprised, he quickly turned around his body, wanted to find the source of the shout, and it was Cindy! She was running fast through all the people there.

‘Cindyyyy….!!!”Andreas screamed, and after put his bag on the floor, he ran toward where Cindy was still running closed him. All the people at the airport just watched them. They tried to guess what had happened, but before they could find the answer, Cindy and Andreas had faced to face. They—Cindy and Andreas—then embraced each other. All the people enjoyed this moment.

“Please, don’t leave me alone, Andreas…” Cried Cindy, “I could die without you, please…”

“No, Cindy, it won’t be forever. I’ll come back here again and marry you. Now, I just leave to get my future to study in America. Yeah, Cindy, please. Don’t cry, please. This future is just for you… trust me! I’ll love you forever and ever…” answered Andreas, he then embraced Cindy strongly. Cindy was soluble in Andreas’ hug.

“Will you promise me that you’ll come back again???” asked Cindy.

“Yes, I bet, if you wanna know I’ll never wanna go, but just for you, for our bright future I’ll go just for a while.”

Then, Cindy stood up opposite Andreas. She erased her tears, and then smiled at Andreas. She was a good girl. She believed all Andreas’ words. Then he escorted Andreas with a quiet feeling. Andreas then continued walking. He left Cindy who still stood up watching him. And before he disappeared behind a door, he waved his right had to Cindy… and whispered, “Wait for me, Cindy, I’ll come back soon”

After Andreas came inside the door, and after some minutes, the plane departed. Cindy could see the plane flying into the sky. Again, Cindy cried, but she was not alone. Andreas’ mom came close her, and held Cindy’s hand.

The next day, a newspaper reported that a plane from Indonesia to America had fallen down and disappeared. No one could find it…… (the end….)

We Will Not Go Down...

Bombs fell on the land that had been filled with blood. Its echo broke the stillness of the night. The animals of the night were awake, but they didn’t provide any movements that indicated a fear. They just walked slowly, looking for another place to continue their sleep. They had been accustomed with explosions. Meanwhile, at corner of the city, a house was destroyed, because one bomb had fallen there. Blood were scattered, shouts of anger blared in the night sky. People ran around the city, but they ran not to stay away from their enemies attacking them. They ran looking for the source of the bombs. They would fight back the attackers.

“The last bastion has fallen down…!!!” shouted a man. He ran, trying to control the situation. His shout seemed not to make all the people who were there afraid. The people were even more vigilant. They didn’t move at all, but still waiting on the last line of defense. Although they were well aware that they didn’t have sophisticated weapons, they felt it was not a reason for surrender. They would struggle for their rights.

However, elsewhere, far from the attacks, there was a mother who was crying. She cried not because of the war, but the arrogance of his son’s attitude that hurt her feeling. That time, the mother told her son, “Come on son, you must help us fight this war. We must get together to win this battle.”

“No, mom, this is your war, not mine!” answered her son.

Actually her son was a good boy. But the bitter truth in the past to make him change. He was sometimes gentle and understanding, but sometimes rude. Just like this time, the current attitude of the boy’s impudence to appear in inappropriate situation—in a war situation.

But, the mother’s patience was like an angel. She didn’t impose her will, but rather pray that her children could be the ones who succeeded in life and afterlife. So she swept the tears from her eyes, and walked toward the well to wash her face and her feet to pray.

In the meantime, one of her other sons came home. He didn’t say anything, because he felt so tired. He just came from the war, a war that he hadn’t finished yet. So he just parked his motorcycle quietly. After that, he looked at his first brother’s eyes, red. Then he looked at his mom, she was taking a prayer, crying and sinking into her prostration. Again, he didn’t say anything; he thought that it’d better for him to go directly toward his room where the situation was dark and quiet.

When he arrived in his room, he took off his uniform. He didn’t care of everything he was feeling; broken heart, betrayals, even a dream that was almost stolen, but with wounds he struggled to defense. Suddenly, when he felt in pressures, his second brother came into the room. The second brother then sat besides him, and then talked, “We must win brother, we will not go down! We must win….!”

“What must we win, brother?” he answered his second brother, “We aren’t even brave to fight in the war. Whereas, we know that our children have been waiting for the glory for years, and we here just talk about winning without any efforts to be a real winner” then his heart was full of tears. He regretted he had talked like that to his second brother. However, his second brother just smiled at him, and then telling him softly,

“Brother, I’m not asking you to forgive me for my attitude. And I’m happy that you have big motivation to win in the war. Me too, I also want to win this war. Not only for me and my family, but for us.”

After that the second brother got up, and then walked out the room. At the same time, he tried to understand every word that had been just said by his second brother. He stood up, couldn’t still find the answer. He reached the electricity to turn off the lamp in his room. He felt very tired and really wanted to take a rest.

After the room was hardly dark, he laid his body in his bed. Slowly, he closed his eyes, and his lips softly whispered, “Yes, brother, I know, we will not go down, and we will win our future…”

The moon in the sky disappeared slowly, and hiding behind the dark clouds. And in war area outside there, the battle had stopped. It was only blood covering the land, there was no fears, the people who had gotten back to their home made the night quieter and quiter.

Be Wise, That's the KEY

Living in this world isn’t as easy as we think. There are a lot of temptations coming and leaving in our life. All those provoke our emotion, and knock down our patience. In the end, when the sun is burning our head at noon, and the cold wind is crushing to bits our body in the evening, we feel frustrated. Even, we directly think that we have failed in this life, and prefer to run from the temptations, lose of hope.

Normally, we are most afraid of age. Time running very fast everyday, drags our life into older and older, so that, it’s slowly but sure, our confidence becomes less and less. However, we will never be able to run from this destiny. This is what we must accept, and build up our awareness that we have to take benefits along our ages. This consciousness should also be supported by our attitudes and behaviors. And the most important is that we need to have an attitude of wisdom in which this attitude can be a key of our success in this world.

Being wise is a gift from God. If We always behave our problems without any regrets and complains, we will undergo our life easily. It is because God has decorated our soul with wisdom, so that the problems we are facing, are hoped not to make us frustrated, even loses of hope. We should see our problems not only by using our own eyes, but we ought to see the problems with our mind’s eye too. So That, the more problem attacking us day by day, we can be wiser and wiser. In the end, when we win, we won't be arrogant, but modest. Moreover if we fail, they will always try to get lessons of their failures, and promise to ourselves that we will never make the same mistakes in the future.

However, it seems that the advance of period has erased the wisdom in our heart. This fact makes so many riots and violence to come to the surface of this life. We have even forgotten how to be a person who appreciates our logical mind. We can’t even hear white voices in our heart. We’re now like an animal that more follows our passion just for survival. In this situation, discussions become useless. We indirectly reform jungle-law in which the strongest oppresses the weakest, and the weakest tries to survive by rebelling—not rebelling for the truth but for being a thief. What a life! We can just be a watcher, or maybe a lover who enjoys this situation. Our wisdom fades away from our soul.

Now, before the situation becomes worse, it’s time for us to see again deep inside our heart. Can we still feel smarting when a sewing needle stabs our body? Can we still feel cold when we take off our clothes in the cold evening? If we think that we can still feel them all, it means we are still human being. We still have feelings in our heart. So we must change the way of our life. We must stop all pessimistic thoughts, and become wiser in thinking of this life, especially in thinking of all realities in this world. Finally, we must get back the wisdom in our soul. We must re-lighten wisdom, so that we will not go down in this world easily. And of course, we finally realize that to make our dreams come true, we must keep forever the only key of success; that is WISDOM…

I Forget That I Love You

Stella was walking in a deserted alley. It was in the late evening. The alley was very dark. It was only the moon that lit up the night. "Love will never tell lies" whispered Stella to herself.

The wind blew strongly, made Stella feel cold, though she was wearing a very tick jacket. She stared for a moment gaze into the sky, it was quiet. There were no stars decorating the sky. Ooh... She suddenly felt lonely, after that she thought of her lover. "I hate him!" she cried silently. "Why did he betray me?" she muttered again.

Suddenly Stella tried to remember again when she was quarreling with her boy friend two hours before.

"Please, Stella, trust me..." Roger sulked to Stella, his girlfriend.

"What can i trust from your words? I have even forgotten that I love you!" Stella snapped. She seemed to be burning with jealousy.

How not? Stella had seen Roger walking with a woman in a mall the day before. That time, Roger and the girl walked arm in arm. And to Stella, the fact was enough for her to think that Roger had betrayed her love--her sincere love.

"But you must trust me..." said Roger silently again. But the words sounded useless, because Stella had walked away.

"I'll prove to you, Stella, that my love with you seriously..." Roger then went in the opposite direction with Stella.

Oooh... Stella suddenly cried for having to remember the quarrel. But, she just went on the steps, heading home.

The morning had come to the accompaniment of chirping birds. Sunlight that penetrated through the sidelines of the window, touching the skin of Stella's eyes were still closed. Stella was very lazy to get up from her bed, but she had to go to school. School? Considering about it made her lazier to get up. Because, she knew that she would meet Roger there. Then, with a lazy step, she finally got up and walked toward the bathroom, "I hope i won't meet him at school"

The class was deserted. Stella looked at her watch. "What the??? it's 7 already. Where are the other students???"

Stella then walked to her desk. When she arrived at her desk, she found a paper. she opened it, and read the writings in the the paper, "This class will not start if you don't forgive me". Stella gasped for a moment. She liked the sentence, but when she wanted to keep it, she suddenly remembered that it must be Roger who wrote this. "Yes, it must be him...!!!" Then she threw the paper. And when she wanted to sit down, dozens of students came to the classroom by carrying a large banner with the inscription: "IF YOU FORGET THAT YOU LOVE ME, I WILL MAKE YOU REMEMBER IT AGAIN WITH MY LOVE."

And a moment later, Roger came into the classroom too. He carried a flower. He stepped toward Stella. Stella was nervous. She wanted to scream, and she longed to berate Roger. But, she didn't know why she felt difficult doing it. This time Roger had stoop up in front of her, "Stella..." said Roger calmly. But before he continued his words, he looked back at his friends who had supported and helped him. He winked his right eye to his friends for a while, it made his friends smile to him.

"I never lie to you" said Roger again after looking back to Stella, "All I want in this world is only you. I'm not lying. It's true, this feeling comes from deep inside my heart. About the girl you saw yesterday. Mm... I forgot to tell you that I have a little sister. She studies in Australia. And yesterday, she wanted me to accompany her to buy a new dress."

"You're lying!" Stella snapped.

"No, he's not lying..." suddenly a beautiful girl came, and walked closed Stella and Roger, "I'm his sister... Hello, My name is Hanna..."

Stella was confused. She knew now that she had misunderstood.But, she felt shy to stare at Roger's eyes. Roger, because he knew Stella, just embarrassed Stella. So did Stella, She cried on Roger's chest...

Looking at this moment, all the students there clapped their hands. But suddenly, came a terrible sound. It was a teacher's voice, "Is there anyone who can tell me what happening is here???"

All the students, of course, just ran toward their desks hurriedly...

The Dream must Come True

When we were born, we were naked. We didn’t bring anything into this world. And then, we grow up. At the first five years, we could only understand that something was exciting, and another thing was annoying, even it’s dangerous. After that, we entered our school. There, we started to adore someone or an occupation, so that we could say easily, “I want to be a pilot” or “I want to be Spiderman”. The second one is the funniest. The impact of Television seems to have made some children play in their empty dream. However, this isn’t a big deal. The point is we, when we’re still a child, could still notice our dream. It is different after we step into our teenager, adolescence, and old period. When we step those periods, we seem to be difficult identifying our dreams. Though, we all really agree that our dreams must come true.
Therefore, from the last sentence of the paragraph above, it is clear that we won’t never be able to make our dreams come true before we’re able to know what kind of dream that we want. And it is also clear that our blindness of our dream makes most of us get lost in this life, so that there are some of us forget the importance of achieving our dream and would rather shift our life by doing something useless, such as consuming drugs, spending our night-life in clubs, and even doing some criminal actions.
Now, let’s think how well we understand that dreams are important for us? And then, why don’t we try to find out the meaning of a real dream in this life? Some of us probably think that we just do it, and we don’t have to think about it. How come? Can we do a journey in a desert without any maps that can lead us to get our goals? Of course not, guys. It is as same as we suicide, and make us loose of hope in the end. I think we all refuse to be in this situation, don’t we?
Well, actually, there are some benefits if we plan our dream first before we do efforts to realize it. First, if we know our dream, at least we can do some preparation. We can set some strategies, our best strategies, to make it come true. Secondly, we’ll be more ready if we fail, and this fact won’t make us loose of hope, because we have considered the consequences and the risks before, so it can push ourselves to check our mistakes again why we fail, and of course after we find the mistakes, we’ll be more confident to continue our efforts.
Guys, believe it or not, a dream is like music. We must like the music first, then we can enjoy it, even we can try to make our own music, and if we can create our own music successfully, though other people may see our music is bad, we won’t care of them, because we feel satisfied with a result coming from our own creation, and of course, by this time we have one new idea to make much better music at the future. Yeah, the point is that the first success can motivate our heart to achieve better success.
Finally, no matter what, we must decide what dream we want to achieve now. Whatever that is, we don’t have to feel afraid and pessimistic that the dream is too high or abstract. We will never know our destiny. But we must trust that nothing is impossible in this life. So that’s why, as God creatures, all we can do is trying and trying as best as we can. Yeah, guys, it is our sublime duty to make our dreams come true. Come on, God is waiting for our dreams now…. (^_^)

AS I JUST WANT TO STUDY

Billy was a diligent student. He liked coming to the class on time. Even, he always arrived in his school very early, and usually just sat down on his chair until his friends came to the class, the bell rang, and the teacher entered the class. All his friends always praised such attitude of his, including the teachers at the school, they were proud of having Billy as one of the students in the school.

However, Billy wasn’t smart enough as a student. This fact could be seen when Billy never did home-works given by the teachers to him. And it caused Billy always stood up in front of the class as a punishment for the students who didn’t do the home-works.

“I like it, thank you, Mam” said Billy while he was standing in front of the class. That time, his smile looked very happy. It was as if he didn’t feel any shames at all.

Looking at this, Billy’s teacher was wondering. She really wanted to know why Billy said such words, while other students, of course, would refuse to stand up in front of the class by giving so many reasons in order that the teacher would give them an excuse.

“Billy, why do you look so happy? Don’t you feel shy standing up here?” Asked Billy’s teacher finally.

“No, Mam,” Answered Billy, and smiled. And after listening to this answer, it was not only his teacher laughed, but all the students hearing this also laughed at Billy. And Billy, what an incredible Billy! He just stood up quietly.

“Okay, Billy. Now, tell me your reason why you didn’t do your home-work?” Asked the teacher again.

“No reason, Mam. I didn’t do it on purpose. Hehehe…”

Of course, this answer made the teacher very angry. She felt that Billy had underestimated her lessons. So, couldn’t stand it, she didn’t only ask Billy to stand up. She even asked Billy to go out of the class until the end of the school.

“No, Mam…” Refused Billy suddenly. He then came close his teacher, he hoped his teacher wouldn’t give him such hard punishment. Though, he knew that it was because his answer a few minutes ago. But, that’s the truth; he didn’t do the home-work on purpose,

“Do you know what my purpose is, Mam???” Cried Billy. He tried to explain.

“What???” the teacher shouted. It seemed that she couldn’t maintain her patience.

“Because….” Whispered Billy.

“What the????”

“Because, the purpose is I just want to study…”

“What did you mean???” The teacher still didn’t understand.

“I just want to study how to be a strong man who can stand up in a very long time, Mam. One of the important ingredients of educational success is motivation. Motivation basically explains why we do the things we do, or why we behave the way we do. It is about our drives, wants and needs. Simply put, motivation is cyclical process starting and finishing with an individual's needs. Our individual needs direct our goals. Our goals determine our actions and may later trigger other needs.

Psychologists distinguish between INTRINSIC and EXTRINSIC motivation. Behavior based on long-term goals or a person's established preferences is considered to be intrinsically motivated. Behavior based on some external reward is considered to be extrinsically motivated.
Most of our daily behavior, however, is a complex mixture of both kinds of motivation. Going to course may be mostly a matter of intrinsic motivation, for the goal--in this case, the academic degree--can only be reached after a long period and concentrated effort. But, the effort that is put into daily assignments may be partly motivated by extrinsic factors, such as praise from teachers, incentives from parents, and admiration from peers. In other words, the chances of success during the years of schooling are biggest if one can draw support and encouragement from others. in the absence of sch support and encouragement, the chances of success may be slim.

It is easy to understand that English has become the most spoken language by all the people under the sun. English, even, is the only truly universal language in which many countries of the world, and the people, can speak the language. The principles and the patterns of English are developed every day, following the development of period, by linguists. It is the aims of KEY to discuss and share the knowledge of English in which about the history, the development, and the modern expression of English.Most people today in Indonesia, especially the students, extremely expect to study abroad or work abroad. It causes them to study, analyze, and even to master English as a support for their capability to go abroad. All the efforts, indeed, will be useless without any clear comprehension of any media—books, magazines, newspapers, and internets—, because, it is a fact that some people are still confused of the use and the function of English. Finally, in many cases there are a lot of people giving up in the rest way of their learning process.

In the globalization era, English institutions are established; include the organizations, based on introduction, education, and guidance. They also committed themselves to the realization of successful goals, with specific targets that can be achieved by the learners. There's a reason how english is universal language

English is without a doubt the actual universal language. It is the world's second largest native language, the official language in 70 countries, and English-speaking countries are responsible for about 40% of world's total GNP. English can be at least understood almost everywhere among scholars and educated people, as it is the world media language, and the language of cinema, TV, pop music and the computer world. All over the planet people know many English words, their pronunciation and meaning.The causes for this universality are very well known and understandable. English first began to spread during the 16th century with British Empire and was strongly reinforced in 20th by USA world domination in economic, political and military aspects and by the huge influence of American movies. The concept of a Universal Language is more significant only now, in the era of world mass communication. Before this era Greek, Latin, French were to some extent universal languages, though mainly in Europe.

By a lucky coincidence due to factors above, English, the Universal language, is one of the simplest and easiest natural languages in the world. The only other simple and easy languages are constructed ones. Of course the concept of easiness is relative, and it depends on which language you know already. However the concept of simplicity is undeniable: English in an easy language to learn, understand and speak. A complex language such as Hungarian would be a very unlikely candidate for a universal language.

First of all, English Language uses Latin alphabet, the most universal, simple and short one (only the Greek alphabet is shorter and simpler). In addition, in English, the Latin Alphabet presents its most "clean" form as a true alphabet with only 26 basic letters and no diacritics;

Verb conjugation is very simple and easy. Even for irregular verbs, there is almost no variation in person (except 3rd singular in present tense).

Regular verbs have only four forms: Infinitive + Present, Past Tense + Past Participle, 3rd person singular Present Indicative, Present Participle.

There are almost no Inflections. No number or gender inflection for adjectives, articles, adverbs. For adjectives there is only comparative and superlative, almost only number for nouns. In pronouns there are gender and number inflections and only three declension cases (Acc/Dat, Nom, Gen).

English is one of the most analytical languages, with no significant synthetic, fusional or agglutinative characteristics.

Historically, the British, even, who conquered most widely, spoke English. They colonized North America - most North Americans are descended from the colonists and speak English. They conquered parts of South America, and those pockets speak English. They conquered Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and India.

Currently, Modern English, sometimes described as the first global lingua franca, is the dominant international language in communications, science, business, aviation, entertainment, radio and diplomacy.
